Since I visited St. George's Anglican Cathedral in the rain, I don't have nearly as good an exterior photo as this one, but I also find its interior interesting. The building was consecrated in 1894, and it is one of the world's tallest wood frame buildings.
Amazing shot Marilyn.
love all the loines Marilyn; very geometric. It could use about a 1 degree rotate to the right, as I see it. Good shot though.
Thanks, Pixelbug, Franco, and Hank. Sometimes we're lucky with those "brace the camera and hope for the best" shots.
Hank, your observation sent me back to my computer album. I have two copies of this. The original leaned too far the other way, and the truth lies somewhere between the two!!
You have obtained a special atmosphere in this shot. Bravo Marilyn!. Greetings from Spain.
Wow, it's very fancy! I was wondering why it seemed so bright if, as you say, it was raining outside. Then I realized it's because the walls are all white inbetween the dark wood frame. The windows are glowing with light, but everywhere else there is a fairly bright color also. It makes it feel more open, I think. Ryan
Thank you, Pepe, Wallace, and Ryan. I really liked the lightness and airiness of this interior--and the contrast with the wood.
Ryan, I've just checked my exterior photo (which really isn't bad considering that the sky is cloudy). Although it was rainy, it wasn't as dark as one might expect. And of course you're right: the windows and the white surfaces make the most of the available light. Marilyn
Spectacularly beautiful Chatedral! Wonderful uptake Marilyn ! My best wishes, Tamás
Many thanks, Tamás. Best wishes, Marilyn
Very strong image of a very handsome cathedral. Are you in Guyana NOW ?! I was just getting used to Utah... ;) alicia
No, Alicia, I'm definitely not in Guyana now. This was from the same trip on which I took the golden frog photo. (My husband had worked there before we got married, but I'd never been until that 2004 visit.) Recently I was looking at some of my church photos because of the April no-prize contest,]. When I came upon this, I checked and saw that there was no interior view on Panoramio through there were a few exterior shots. Marilyn
Beautiful shot: it looks cool and serene here inside while I'm sure it was hot and humid outside.
Greetings Marilyn, Very pretty. You managed very good lighting inside.
Yes, Sean, you recognized what makes this such a wonderful place to be. Thanks, Marilyn
Marilyn, this is such a unique and handsome interior, I hope that Panoramio ends up selecting it for GE, as it is an interior of a cathedral, which I believe they consider. A very good image you caught, regardless of whether it gets selected or not. Thank you for the link, by the way, to the contest. I have not yet looked into any contests or other aspects of Panoramio due to the tiiiiimmmme it takes - it seems its all I can do to keep up with editing photos, uploading, browsing others, commenting, replying..... But I promise I will go there some day ;)
Warm regards, alicia
Thanks, Alicia, I also hope it's selected since it would complement the outside views. You never can tell. To my surprise, I had some interior shots of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg selected, and that's not a church! Best wishes, Marilyn
