These two constructions are across the river Oder at Bad Lauterberg: the green weir at the front is used to divert water for the generation of electricity about three miles down the river and belongs to the Baryt-Industrie whereas the somewhat more elaborate blue bridge above carries the new Bypass B 243; there may be a hundred years between those two works and, of course, the humble effort is private and the high flyer paid through taxes
