You cannot keep your lens (or your camera for that matter) dry in this environment.

Hank, we live only about an hour and a half away but we've been there only a few times, and only once, in the '70s, did we do anything that required raincoat! I've intended to take time time to visit again, but your fine series from the past is a wonderful substitute. (It would have been a good place to try out the little waterproof camera I gave Hugh in preparation for the trip, but we certainly don't have time this week!)

Powerful photo! I am intrigued about how you kept your lens/camera dry. Tony

Greetings Marilyn and Tony. I understand your situation, Marilyn. There are many places here that are world famous, but I don't get there enough either. That's why God made grandchildren. They become our reason to go back.
Feelings of nostalgia are another, but those are more personal - like My Brooklyn series.
Tony, all of these shots were before the days of digital camera and their dependance on electronic automation and gadgetry. I still had to keep the camera under my slicker until the very moment, and then you're drying the lens off with whatever is handy, and dismantling it when you're back upstairs.
I don't think I'd try it today with a digital camera unless it was waterproof.
THanks to you both for your comments.

Great shot Hank -- thanks for braving the damp for our viewing pleasure. Seems to be more water going over the falls than I remember -- was it springtime or a particularly good year?
Hank Waxman, on April 14, said:
You're asking a lot of the memory of a person with a Golden Eagle National Parks Pass, Bruce.
This shot was summer; August or September. We stopped off en route to Lake Itasca in Minnesota (source of the Mississippi) for a little canoeing.
The headwaters were very low, but I don’t know if the drought extended to the areas that feed the Falls. Thanks for visiting and for your comments.
Cheers,
Hank

Great shot of the falls Hank. I am so glad you included the water in the foreground. It adds so much to the image. Amazing place for sure. Bruce

Thanks Bruce. I'm having fun jouneying through all my old slides. I'm doing it to create albums for my kids who feel they grew up without family photo albums ,which is, in a very real way, true.
So I feel I owe them, but I'm having a good time doing it.
Cheers,
Hank

What a great view, Hank! Wonderful shot. It's true, I can feel the fine drops of water just in looking at your photo, and I can hear the thundering of the masses of water - and I am amazed! Beautiful!!!

Greetings May. Your description is as good a my picture and you didn't use your full 1,000 word allocation to describe it. So much for my literary metaphors, thanks for you compliment.
