Wow! I've never seen the falls with ice like this. Another beauty Hank.

C'mon Tom, you didn't move to Virginia to see lots of ice did you? Seriously, since I believe the ice formation is a natural function of the spray, I'd guess you can see almost this exact formation every year until it melts. I was there, as noted in April.

Thanks for the compliment.

Stunning shot Hank: the scale of the scene is staggering.

Love the title too!!

Sean.

Thanks Sean. Niagara Falls is well recorded in Panoramio, and the pictures range from close crops to truly panoramic proportions. Click on the coordinates between the two maps on this page and wander through a sampling of the 2700 shots that have been posted. It's easier than going to Google Earth and clicking on the individual blue dots.

Cheers Hank, thanks for the tip, I'll be giving this a try.

Isn't it a kick? I didn't know if you knew about it or not. I only recently discovered it by accident myself, but it's so good I decided to risk telling you something youi already knew.

For me, it changed the Panoramio/Google Earth Experience.

Hank

Amazing!! I've spent hours trying to find stuff I knew should be there but frustratingly couldn't see.

This is great, many thanks Hank.

Greetings Hank, Wow, there is that much ice left in April. There must be a huge amount of ice frozen during the winter. Great photo.

Cheers,

Rich

Hank Waxman, on April 17, said:

Greetings Rich. There is a museum at the Falls which claims that the Falls only completely froze over once, in 1848. Pictures of people standing on a frozen US Falls are claimed to be either 1911 or 1912 so I went to Urban Legends for the straight story:
