1331 erste urkundliche Erwähnung einer Kirche. 1680 Neubau als Fachwerkssaalkirche. 1884-86 neugotischer Turm nach Abriß des alten hölzernen Glockenturms.

Die Innenaustattung des 17. Und 18. Jahrhunderts mit Werken bekannter Hamburger Künstler wurde 1903 und 1962 renoviert.

and I'm pleased that you like it. The funny thing here is, that the church has two different styles. While the nave is a framework from the origin the old wooden tower was replaced by a neogothic style in 1886.

Hi Volker So many English churches were altered in the 1860/80s mostly in the Gothic style thanks to Pugin and the Gothic Revival. Regards Bob

As you mentioned Pugin I wanted to know more and found all about Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin -of course- in Wikipedia. To be honest, did not know him before but could read there, that he was of great influence to architects of his century -thanks for your hint.
