L+F for sharing this inspiring photo of the Milky way.
Practically I can never see it in town and only on very clear nights we are lucky to see some planets and few stars.

Richard, I was just reading your tips for getting the best Milky Way photos. Awesome photo! This is definitely out of my comfort zone even though I have photographed as a hobby for 25 years. I think I'm going to TRY to get that as well as the Northern Lights sometime soon. It's good to go out of your comfort zone some. I had a good laugh when you said something about the hours that I keep and commented "Oh, to be young again." Thank you but I just celebrated my 29th (+/-15 years) birthday in the Boundary Waters this summer! I'm a grandma for nearly 6 years already. :) I keep weird hours, I think many years of working nights and driving truck ruined me forever for sleeping "normal" hours even though I now have what the rest of the world would consider a "normal" job!
Greetings Lynn, Thank you for your informative response. Good for you!!! I hope you do try taking some night shots. They are a lot of fun and what a way to feel one with nature. You should be able to get away from the light pollution without to much travel. And since you are up at the weirdest hours any way, night photography should not be any problem. And it might be easy for you to get a ways north to catch the auroras should there be a good solar event. Take care and have a great weekend. Cheers, Rich
