The two monuments in the foreground are actual burial places for members of Congress. Those just beyone, cubes with conical tops, are monuments designed by Benjamin Latrobe.
Many members of Congress and others serving in Washington were temporarily held at the cemetery until arrangements could be made for permanent burial in their home districts.
