**....Cape St. Vicente'......at the edge of Europe....**

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

This point is the southwesternmost land in Portugal and is a landmark for shipping traveling to or from the Mediterranean. It forms the end of the E9 European Coastal Path, which runs for 5,000 km (3.100 Miles) to Narva-Jõesuu in Estonia. The cliffs reach 75 metres in height and is a site of exuberant and varied marine life. In ancient times before further exploration was made.....the cape really was considered by many.... to be the edge of the world.....Dj...

Yes!

Dave, What is their logic in not selecting this for GE? Would have thought it a shoe-in! GL

Dave and Geoff,

It's a machine that approves the picture in the first place. If it doesn't approve, It's your obligation to push the button for a second review, so the rest of us can enjoy a good picture now and then!

Cheers

Gotcha'...Geoff and Carl...........!! A machine ???....
that's amazing..!...but understandable...bearing in mind the thousands of photo's to inspect......I'd like to learn the process of how it initially 'sees' and selects.....Cheers all from....Dave..

The machine has identified the people at the bottom of the picture as "posing" for a photo then!" GL

I think it identified the sun and thought the fan shaped rays was the face. But, eventually there was a human interface that made the correction.

I believe the Thames Valley Police are the leading experts on automatic face recognition. Don't do anything suspicious in London, you will get caught through the public cams automatically!

Dave, I have to make a minor correction, the European road numbers are not what they used to be. E9 is a road between France and Spain nowadays. But, a couple of the longest roads actually passes you, and me, and that's the E20 and E22, and the latter goes all the way to Jekaterinenburg beyond Ural, 5300 km. If you take the E20 with a ferry from Hull, you will end up at our house, even if the road itself goes on to Saint Petersburg. :-) When I was a kid the E4 now ending at the border, reached all the way to Lisabon. In those Days it was a relief for us, we could even if only in our minds have an open road away from the Cold and darkness...

Cheers

Oh..... I just liked the expression DJ - I didn't mean you to change it!

Where you off to? Not leaving the blessed land (Yorkshire) are you?

If so, I hope your not going to those strangly popular British holiday spots - Egypt/Turkey/Syria etc.

Regardless stay safe - David
