Blenheim Flax mill - looks like a drying frame

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

This view is the back door of the building housing the boiler and pumps that circulated the hot water through the retting tanks. This was one of the larger mills with six (6) retting tanks and six storage tanks to hold preheated water in storage for the subsequent batches. The retting tanks proper are to the left and right of the doors. The tall structure (like a chimney) appears at all extant mill sites where the retting tank buildings remain but at this time its function is not known - I need to see the design drawings in Wellington Archives.
