A view beside a residents' car park in Royal William Yard. The solitary red phonebox clamours for attention while the corner window watches.

I had to look twice to make sure I was seeing color HS. Interesting composition that works well IMO. How about a version with just the phonebox in color and the rest in your HDR manipulated b+w? Might be interesting.

Hi Tom - thanks! It was a surprise to me, too ;)

I think you're right about the mono conv with just the red phonebox - the trouble is there's so many ways to go with that approach and I'm not yet ready that way. So much more to do with just mono for now!!

Lui Brandt on April 17, 2008

It looks great as it is! It almost looks like mono anyway, like my winter shot with boats. Why change it when nature practically presents you with a mono..? :-)

Thanks Lui - like with your picture, it was its almost mono quality but with a powerful vibrant colour included that appealed :)

Great "staging" of color! Very interesting photograph! Best regards, Karl

Thanks KKT - it's all in the framing. A zoom lens helps a lot in exploring for shots like these!

Hi Palmina - have you been away for a while, then? Somewhere nice, I hope :)

Rai©Lui on October 29, 2008

This is a superb shot. Good composition.

...and I was as surprised as Tom.

Cheers from Germany, schwUPPs
