Looking towards Westbury White Horse from the turning into the White Horse viewing area.
Before the barbarians drive their road through here, come and see this precious landscape of Wiltshire's oldest white horse and King Alfred's Battle of Ethandun - the battle that decided there would be an English nation and an English language. The road destroys the tranquillity of the Wellhead Valley and the habitat of 5 of Europe's rarest mammals. This viewpoint is within 200m of the proposed road.
You were presumptive. The Westbury bypass, to which you allude will not now be built. I should also like to point out that am not a tourist to which your colourful plea seems to pander - I live in Westbury and have walked most of the route of the formerly-proposed road.
