I like lighthouses in general, and yours especially, because I 've never seen a lighthouse put up on a normal house. The house with the annex and entrance looks beautiful. Very nice proportions. The colours as well are very nice, the red bricks and the painted wood. Beautifully set photo in perfect surrounding. I guess the shutters at the side to the annex is the entrance to a cellar. May

Actually, May, they are two separate structures. The lighthouse is located behind the old keeper's quarters as shown here. An illusional view from this vantage point, but it was the best location at that time to get a shot without other obstacles in the way such as utility lines and poles, lamposts, vehicles and what not. Another angle can be seen here, taken by the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society.

Thank you! :-) I have been caught! The more I like it!

Thanks for the other picture. The lighthouse is an interesting building in any case, but I prefer your photo. :-) May

Thanks. :0) It would have been good if that barbecue wasn't in the way of the shot, but that was the best area to get a decent photo without other unwanted stuff in it.

I lived in this house for a couple of years as a child - my father was the CPO in charge of the Coast Guard Base across the river and the house was used as quarters for him and his family. I loved playing in the yard and waving to the train conductors passing by on the tracks behind and below the house. We were only able to visit the actual lighthouse one time and it was awesome. There was also a very large closet between the kitchen and living room that we call the "Mr. Magoo Room" - we had a lot of fun playing in there. Great memories of a great house. You can't tell in the picture, but the house is actually located in the back end of the parking lot of Holy Cross church. We simply crossed the parking lot to get to Holy Cross School and to church. It was a great house to live in.

Cool, thanks. :0) They were closed when I was there, so I wasn't able to get a tour. Maybe another time...
