Neil, what a fantastic photo on the side of nevis. I am now 54 years old and I was fortunate enough to climb nevis when I was only 14 years of age, believe it or not it was the first climb of any mountain that I had climbed, and we climbed one of the most difficult routes, you will probably know it, TOWER RIDGE. I was very scared too, we climbed it in july and there was still plenty ice and snow on that side of the mountain, during one of the stretches of ice we climbed, I dropped my ice pick, it probably dropped about 2,000 feet, the chap that had taken me with him was not a happy chappy at the time. The bloke who took me was a chap my mother had been courting for a couple of years, and he was also called ferguson like yourself, John ferguson, and he came from Ashto-under Lyne, lancashire, england. We camped just up the river from the youth hostel on the opposite side, over that iron bridge that you could walk over. In those days you could also leave all your stuff then without anyone pinching anything. We went from there onto the isle of skye, all in all i think we climbed about fourteen peaks during the two weeks we were up there in scotland. I have never done any climbing since then though. Look forward to recieving a reply from you neil, thanks for reading my message
