Great Photo, but this is not a photo of the Torridans, it is a photo of the Hills in Assynt, from left to right...Canisp, Suilven, Cul More and Cul Beag
Thank you for the names of the mountains, I was unsure of them. However, I must beg to differ that these are not part of the Torridon mountains. They are made of the Torridonian Sandstone after all.
no worries...yup i'll give you that on the sandstone...i must admit i have always heard reference to the "Torridons" as those hills south of Loch Maree and north of Torridon. cheers toby
Yes they are in part Torridonian sandstone, but that doesn't make them Torridon mountains. Lewissian gneiss is found in Sutherland but that fact doesn't make Sutherland Lewis! The Torridon mountains are Beinn Alligin, Liathach, Mullach an Rathain and Beinn Eighe. Your photo was taken from near Achmelvich, not Achfary. Nice pic though!
Good point! Ok, I concede I must be wrong - so what is the correct name for this small group of mountains? scottmurray you are spot on with the location, but I've tagged the photo near the actual mountains rather than where I took it from. I just hope I've got that right too...
From left to right, Canisp and Suilven are in Assynt, a district of Sutherland. Cul Mor and Cul Beag are in Coigach, a district of Wester Ross. Your tag is about 13 miles NNE away from Canisp, more from the others.

No worries awhite. It's a fabulous bit of Scotland, my favourite. Looks like you had good weather too.
