Oh my goodness .... this is breathtaking! What a perfect shot! I probably love old mills more than I love old covered bridges! This one is fantastic! Well done! This is just gorgeous!

Know anything about the history of this place Foxx?

Thanks for that link. It says the mill is in use - what do they produce? Flour? Are historical buildings a particular interest of yours?

I have a few posted: Round schoolhouse, West Dummerston Bridge, Guilford barn, Green River crib dam

Laurel Mill isn't currently in ACTIVE use. It just means that the building is privately owned and not condemned or completely vacant. The mill is closed to the public, but the people can still walk the grounds. I've never seen anyone around the mill the times I have been there.

There is another grist mill located here in Franklin County which is under renovations. That one is located near Cascine Plantation south of Louisburg. It is roughly the same size as Laurel Mill.

In reference to active grist mills, the only one I've been to is Kymulga Mill near Childersburg, Alabama --> Kymulga Park.

Thanks Foxx, interesting. Many of these old mills succumb to damage from flooding if the water ways and dams aren't maintained. This one looks in pretty good shape.
