This is the view of the Mississippi river bridges looking west from the hill top overlooking the crossing. The river was at recordstage when this photo was taken Saturday afternoon on April 19, 2008. The bridge on the left is the I-20 interstate bridge. Th ebridge in the center is the old US 80 bridge now only used for rail traffic. The river current was quite strong as evidencedby the wakes downstream of the support structures.

That's my little red car in the foreground. Its a Nissan 350Z Roadster. The river level has dropped at least 8 feet since this picture was made. Its still above flood stage. Lots of areas got flooded in this area. It heavily affected the wild life. The deer and alligators by the dozens started hanging out on the levees. Some farmers lost the crops they had planted. Smart ones have waited for the water to receed.
