**A lovely mugshot David, I swear he has a look that says - "guilty! But I am a bird of prey after all!"

A terrifically sharp rendition considering it was at 300mm., I'm most impressed! Best of wishes, - D.

I would not say lovely, but impressive indeed.

Thank you David and * Ken* - there is a story if you want to hear it.......

This bird tried to chase me down. I sat on the edge of the lawn where he/she was hunting and hunts every afternoon. Objecting to this, he/she ran at me in order to scare me away.

The bird didn't allow for my bad knees and arthritic back.... meaning that I wasn't going anywhere fast, even if I wanted to.

Now this bird is a BIG bird and is quite intimidating. But it stopped about 8 feet from me with its head down and eyes glowering at me. It then turned and continued with its hunt.

I got 107 full frame glorious shots of this bird in various poses (including flight) over the next ten minutes or so.

My legs are still sore though..........

What a gorgeous hawk! Nice and sharp.

Red-tailed? Cooper's? They can be intimidating when they stare you down.

Well David that beats my story of a pheasant chasing my car every day.

I am quite envious of you in this situation as I have a passion for birds of prey but never get anywhere near close enough to a wild bird.

Beautiful clarity even with ISO400 (and creaking knees!) Pin sharp and one to be proud of, well done.

Oh yeah, that works!!! Nice one, bud!

If looks could hypnotize... someone ought to wake me up.

Btw, this impressive bird reminds of an avatar I have seen somewhere quite recently... Those two could arrange a very tough gazing competition :)

Best wishes to all

Kathleen its a Red Tailed Hawk, and a juvenile at that!

Thank you Kenny its dogs that are supposed to chase cars not pheasants. The ISO400 was regrettable but necessary.

Thank you Kevin

Sixten - WAKE UP - the avatar wouldn't be a cat would it? The cat would loose.

Thank you my friends for a wonderful response to this shot - David

Another winner David. I would be the world's worst twitcher - all these hawks look the same to me. The only non-captive one I have seen close up, in Mallorca, looks the same as this in my eyes.
