Lesvos 2013, relaxing, enjoying the weather and bird watching

I hope you'll enjoy my pictures

2013-05-23; our last day, walking in the surroundings of Skala Kalloni

The Bay of Kaloni and in particular the beach town of Skala Kaloni is the nature capital as well as the sardine capital of the island. The economy of this area is based upon agriculture, the nature tourism from visitors who come to see the many birds who stop in the marshes on their way to and from northern Europe, and from the sardines and other fish and seafood that comes from the rich and beautiful bay, not to mention the thousands and thousands of olive trees on the hills which surround it.

Dear Berend,

Margaret and I sat down together and had a full screen slide show of your entire collection of Lesvos photographs and enjoyed it all. May I say that we were both impressed by very many of your bird images, and of your ability to find so many birds doing so many different things. remarkable really.

But it wasn't just the birds that we enjoyed, for we enjoy landscapes and cultural images as well.

And to start us off we had the joy of flying out of Schiphol again and watching the Dutch landscapes below - including Ijmuiden.

Thanks for educating and entertaining us both.

Warmest regards from Imbil,

I&M

Dear Ian and Margaret I'm very pleased that you took the time to watch the pictures of our holiday at Lesvos.

In 7 mornings we saw 71 different species of birds and of 54 species we have taken one or more pictures, only of one we don't know the name yet. From the other 17 birds there're 2 birds of which we don't know the name. At home looking for the names of the birds and insects I went through the holiday again.

IJmuiden is a recognizable place if you're in the air. Thank you for showing interest in my pictures. Greetings Berend
