I took my first steps on this beach way back in 1945 !!! We used to the Marina Beach Hotel every year for Christmas until I was 11 years old. The bridge over the Umzimkulu River at Port Shepstone was a single lane bridge with the railway lines in the middle. It was subsequently washed away in a huge storm when flood waters came raging down the gorge and took out the entire bridge Those were the days and wonderfully happy childhood memories
