Memorial Cross on the site of the WW1 camp where over 2000 soldiers were trained and a further 8400 of the wounded were treated. 707 were subsequently killed in action.
That's a wonderful photo - I just love the feathery sky. I appreciate the history too, as I'd walked past this hundreds of times and never knew exactly what it was for. I think I sometimes got it mixed up with the memorial for Catherine of Aragon too, but that must be on a different hill top, I think. It's so long since I was in that part of the world that I've quite forgotten. I really enjoyed seeing this again, especially looking so beautiful, Julia. Thanks so much for posting this!
