The finest stonework at Machu Picchu was used for temple-building like that at the right. The next best was for the palace. Lower quality went into ordinary buildings, and the coarsest was used to stabilize the terraces.

Thanks, DeEtte and Daniela. I´m not strong and agile enough to reach the places from which one can photograph wide vistas of Machu Picchu. I think that pushed me to work harder noticing and photographing the details. Cheers, Marilyn
