Sherborne Abbey Grounds

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Part of Sherborne Dorset is being transformed into a movie set ahead of filming for an adaptation of the Thomas Hardy novel "Far from the Madding Crowd" .A Victorian "market" is being created outside the abbey with shops on Half Moon Street having their frontages transformed to fit the era. Hundreds of people auditioned in Bridport for the open casting of the film, where extras including bearded men who could shear sheep and women with natural hair were sought to play farm workers from the 1840s. Starring Carey Mulligan, Tom Sturridge and Michael Sheen. I will reserve judgement on whether it beats the original film with Peter Finch, Terrence Stamp & Julie Christie!

There was once grass where the gravel is. It will be a lot of work to put back! Thanks for your like. Greetings, Rosa.
