Dark Side of the Moon

I watched the world

Float to the dark side of the moon

I feel there is nothing I can do.

There's no dark side of the moon, in fact the whole moon is dark..... zo ongeveer eindigt het Erik ;-)) LIKE! Groeten Berend

Groetjes, Erik

Soundz a l'll Pink, Erik. Doesn't the texture just POP when the shadow is across it so. Looks strikingly similar to the moon we have in Canada. Never get enough of this beautiful girl. You hiding the camera details? ;)

Dit is P!nk Berend!

Hello J.C.,Faysal, Nadia, Waldo and Stacy I'm so glad you 'Luna'tics came to stare with me in the darkness. I'm no Superman so I ain't afraid of Kryptonite. For all the P.F lovers.....enjoy!

A wise man said one should never show the secret ingredients from your recipe Stacy but of course I'm willing to make an exception for fine cook like yourself.

First take a EF 70-200mm/2.8 IS II USM

Mount him on a Canon 60D

Put it all on a tripod and make sure the whole is is steady and zoom to 200mm

Focus on the moon, Camera om Manual and of course RAW, ISO 100, depth of field set to F8.0 (1/40 sec) in this case

Exposure bias -3.0 EV as the moon is only a small dot for the camera metering and most was so dark. (I experimented with that to find the right setting)

RAW file cooked with Lightroom, cropped to 1920 x 1080Px to get more zoom. Enhanced the contrast a bit, set some noise reduction en sharpened the picture.

Export for web in PS and set JPEG compression to 60% to reduce file size and loose the EXIF.

If I export it with EXIF there is so much info as my files contain my name, adress, e-mail, phone number, GPS location, Date and time when photo is taken and also time/date when I edited it, what program I used and much more. Most of this isn't shown on Panoramio but will be read by Google and will become part of the Big Data.

Groeten, Greetings, Erik

Thanks for the informative response, Erik. Cool coincidence - as i just upgraded this summer from my Canon SX1IS to the 60D. Shortly after i purchased a cheep, fixed aperture 500mm by Bower. i wasn't very happy with my Lunar test JPEG - but you've inspired me to try some more enhancement...

..."cooked" with PaintShopPro

-JPEG noise removal

-separate the subject

-and treat with contrast (HMS)

-reduce colour

-then soften background

-merge ;)
