I used this photo for a couple of years as a wallpaper on my laptop. The shades of gray provide a neutral background which does not distract while allowing program icons to show up very clearly.

For those interested, the photo is a distant view of the Wigtown peninsula taken on a particularly cloudy September afternoon. The way the light reflects from the water gives the impression that the long thin peninsula is hanging in space. You need to view at full size to see this effect.
