What a peaceful sunset; and it's amazing it was taken around midnight :)

Tomas K☼h☼ut on November 29, 2013

Ahoj E+V, Hi Roberto!

Yes, this photo was really taken around midnight and we were picking blueberries at that time... One advantage of travelling behind arctic circle in summer, you have plenty of time during the day (as the day never ends).

This bloody sunset was a prelude to the next stormy day.

Here is the photo taken after the midnight, at about 1 AM...!

Cheers, Tom

Someone spilled into the sky inkwell...

Tomas K☼h☼ut on December 15, 2013

Hi Anatoli,

It was not me nor my photo editor. Norwegian sky is simply great (very often)!

Mário, thanks!

Hi, Tom!

I have no doubt that this is the natural color of the sky. It just looks a little as alien planet. Or like a fairy tale :-)

Spectacular Light! I suspect if I went north in summer I would need to sleep during the day, because I wouldn't want to miss something like this.
Btw- this is not Hurtigrute, but some cruiseship. Hurtigruten only ever use Tjeldsund when the storm's too bad to cross the Vestfjord;-)

Tomas K☼h☼ut on December 19, 2013

We knew there will be a storm next morning till afternoon, so we moved on and slept long next day. But it's quite usual modus operandi for cyclists in summer Arctic areas to have a long nights and late mornings.

Hello again Tom, it's a wonderful picture, i like!

PS: i noticed it's still clear near midnight despite being the end of july, is there ever a sunset in the summer solstice?

Tomas K☼h☼ut on December 28, 2013

Hi lizab thank you... yes, although sun goes bellow horizon at the end of July at this region, still we had nights with light (no head lamp needed!).

But the days are going shorter quickly and significantly after first week of August.

Cheers, Tom
