Thank you Gatis P. The Maen Madoc stone lies near the Roman road "Sarn Helen" that runs across the Brecon Beacons. It stands approximately 2.7 metres high and is inscribed on one side with the Latin inscription DERVAC(IVS) FILIVS (H)IC IACIT – "Of Dervacus, Son of Justus. He lies here". The stone may have been erected before the Roman period, perhaps during the Bronze Age.
