Thank you all for your comments! Hank, I use PTGui - it's not free, but it works like a dream. I tend to overlap my photos by at least a third, so that helps with the blending. I also fix the white balance at cloudy or sunny to avoid any 'corrections' between shots.

Thanks, Tom. I feel I'm still learning with these big pano's, the trick seems to be to get as many interesting views as possible, not just to record the full 360 degrees.
