When the duckpond has become a place of pilgrimage, this hotel, renovated and enlarged, will accommodate the many Greg Jr enthusiasts.

If BLL is managed in a proper way, it will generate more than enough money to buy this building.

Great shot of a very beautiful building, Mary Alice! I hope it will soon find an appropriate owner! Greetings, Anne

Good capture of a very handsome 'period' building, Mary Alice. Unbelievable that 1928 figure! Something tells me the current sticker price is somewhat higher ;) I hope the new owner preserves it and it does not fall by the waysides or get razed for new cheap construction, like so many historical buildings nationwide. The neighboring buildings look like they are of historical note too, though, so hopefully it will be protected - ? I like this street shot. Cheers to you this evening (night over there). -alicia

Greetings, my friends! :) Thank you so much for visiting the old Upson Hotel!

Claus, you have made some very well-grounded, efficacious points! BLL could own this place in a heartbeat if we played our cards right! We need to get Happy Paul on it right away! :) Thank you for your visit, and of course, for your fine suggestions! You are a genius! :)

Anne, Thank you very much for visiting. I'm glad that you find this old hotel beautiful. I have long admired it and wish so much that the right person would come along to renovate and love it! Once upon a time it was a magnificent place! We always went to a huge pancake breakfast there after church on Sundays as a child. It's been for sale for years and years now though, and there's even been talk of just tearing it down. That is heartbreaking to me. Don't you want to move to GA and own & operate a grand old hotel? :) I would gladly help you with the project! Thanks for your visit!

Jacques, I'm so glad that you stopped by! It is a beautiful old place with many stories to tell. Maybe one day it will fall into the right hands. Thank you again for stopping by, my friend!

Alicia, I'm so happy to see you over here at the Hotel Upson! Somehow I knew you'd appreciate it's beauty! :) If I had the money, I'd buy it tomorrow! I ride by it many times each and every day, and always admire it's many beautiful features. I remember going there as a child with my parents and grandparents. They served a magnificent Pancake breakfast downstairs on Sundays, and everyone in town would turn out! :) What fond memories. Thank you so much for stopping by, and as always, for your interest! I hope this evening find you well. :)

Greetings and thank you all again for your visits!

In any case a new wing has to be attached to the hotel, to provide lodging for the numerous people who enjoy reading your comments.

Another great 'old building' shot Mary Alice and the history puts it all into perspective: $150!!.

Hope you are enjoying your week,

Sean,

Thank you so much for your visit to this old Hotel! Yes, can you imagine .... $150? :) Those were the days.

Wouldn't you like to come to Georgia and buy this little Hotel with me? It would be a great investment.

I hope this evening finds you well.

As we speak...there is a movement to tear down this hotel. Someone must stop them.

I am well aware of this, and I don't know what to do to stop them. It's a horrible thought.

I wish I had enough money to buy it, but that's a laugh!

Sunday greetings to you,

Mary Alice

I can't believe that - I was eavesdropping on Cleboy's comment above, Mary Alice, and am always dismayed when I hear that buildings of historic value are being considered for demolition. I've been away for several days and am just getting caught up, Mary Alice. I'm so glad to visit you! I think the community should start a signed petition if they haven't already, to preserve the building. It doesn't always work, but it's worth trying to get it recognized for historic registry - either local or national. Keep us posted! Greetings to you Mary Alice and I hope you're not up at this hour ;) -alicia

Greetings, Alicia! I'm so happy to see you! :)

We had more bad storms last night that knocked my power out until 6:00AM, so I wasn't able to get on and play again. :(

I think this is a very good idea about the old hotel. I just can't imagine them destroying it. It is so beautiful and still has so much character. Our entire square would be ruined without it, as far as I'm concerned. They are asking quite a lot of money to buy it though, and I just can't really see it selling anytime soon.

I guess I need to get something started.

I hope you've been doing good, and I thank you so much for stopping by last night.

Warmest regards to you on this happy Wednesday,

Mary Alice

It seems that the only time you're not on your keyboard is when the internet is down ;~O so I should have known. It sounds like you are having lots of storms lately - I hope no damage and that all your feathered friends are well. Hopefully the Hotel Upson won't go to a developer. Best to you too, Mary Alice -alicia

You are on to me! The power outages are usually the only things that keep me away! ;)

I am happy to report that we're having excellent weather tonight! :)

It's such a joy to see you, and thank you for stopping by!

We will keep our fingers crossed about this gorgeous Hotel! I'll keep you posted.

This building is in crisis. Its for sale for $400,000. City is demanding restoration work. contact cefinc@yahoo.com for more infomation.

Cefinc,

Greetings! :)

I am very curious as to how you saw this picture, seeing that you don't seem to be a Panoramio member. I assure you that if I had $400,000, I would get this beautiful building out of it's crisis situation right away. I would love nothing more than to see it restored to it's original beauty.

Does Andy Bickley still own the place or is it in someone else's hands?

Thank you for your posting.
