This used (until the 70's) to be called Roche's Castle until someone stole the sign. Then they named it Fitzpatrick's Tower. God knows what it is called today. My dad and his friends (as Children) used to throw stones from the top onto the passing and much hated Britsh "Black & Tan" Patrols. So I assume it used to be quite a bit taller :)

This is the centre of Lismore with the very traditional bar The Redhouse on the right of the photo and the totally newly refurbished (May 2007)Lismore Hotel centre to left of photo. This building was built to accommodate visitors to the castle and allowed them time and place to prepare themselves before walking down to the castle in their fine garments and NOT in their travelling clothes. On the right where a gent is seen walking is the old courthouse that now houses the Heritage Centre with an excellent slide-show that explaines the history of the area and has replicas of various artifacts found in the area ie The Lismore Crosier.
