Ken Bates's conversations

This is the church where my father and I were baptised and my father's brother lived right opposite the gateway. When I was a child my father and his brother made a kite which got tangled in the weather cock (wind direction indicator) on top of the spire. I see that it has now gone.

Sorry Petejo,

The orientation is probably OK - definitely not a sunset! but you must have been on the other side of the 6-storey apartment block!

Nice picture!

Sorry I had to comment on the exact location though! We are looking forward to going to Garden Lago next year.

Hi Stephan, Many thanks for the info. (which you provided very quickly but I was unable to access until now). Quite a nice view from your balcony! Ken

Nice picture, Javier, you went rather later in the day than me and the sun picks out the "statue" very well. Around mid-day the lighting is much "flatter" but is good for seeing detail in many of the older workings at the quarry. For information of other people. At S'Hostal, there are two modern quarries (as pictured here) and very many smaller quarries mined by hand over the last 200+ years. The site was taken over in 1994 by Lithica, who have made this a very interesting tourist feature with paths leading from one quarry to another and to viewpoints over gardens, ponds, fountains, etc.. The quarries have been planted with indigenous trees and plants, each able to thrive in its own little environment.

Many thanks for your offer! No, the original size posted and available on the link is fine to display full screen and that's all I want to do with it.
