Hi Jacque,If as you say it was close to Ulundi then you are spot on. When I read your text I thought you mentioned that it was in Swaziland and as I mentioned I went to an identical place with a snake park attached to it just south of Big bend.

All the best Regards Peter

Looking across the fields to one of the bird hides in the distance. Wakkerstroom is renowned for its birdlife. You can see the reed beds on the right. Birding guides are trained here by birdlife sa. The whole town is geared around birders.

A very nice church set in the centre of Wakkerstroom. In front of it appears to be a grave or memorial, in memory of the Wakkerstroom Kommandos. The soldiers names are listed down the uprights of the grey marble arch.

Located just outside of Dundee centre on the road to Vryheid the Talana museum is a must see.If you are doing the battlefields of Northern KZN do not miss this.It is a fantastic museum taking you through the many battles,Boer,Zulu and british. It will show you the homes of the first families in Dundee, take you into mines, discuss glassmaking, take you on a tour of african beadwork and meanining of the colours used and so much more. There is a coffee shop/resturant. The museum is laid out over a few acres of land, it is clean well maintained and extremely informative. Give yourself half a day to work through it.Shot taken April 09

This is rural KwaZulu-Natal at its best, the valley looks back towards Keate's drift and Tugela Ferry. To get here take the road from Greytown to Dundee (R33)travel north for about 40kms. Here if you are lucky, you will see Zulu women in traditional dress, adorned in beads and head dress.
