Hello Palmina. They are beautiful bird. We have them over here in the west and they called Swamp Hen.They always live around and near swampy type of country and they often get run over on the road, as they are rather silly things, because when I car approaches, instead of flying away like most birds,it either just stands there or just slowly wonders off the road. I have never seen one fly, but I do think they do.We have many of them living around here. They seem to be very territorial and stick to there little area. They are an extreemly colour bird with the pink legs and purple to rich dark blue and even some green in places. As they nest on the ground, they are prone to being got by foxes which are NOT native to Australia, but were brought here by the British to eat the Rabbits which are also NOT native to Australia either, which were also brought here for food by the early settlers and they escaped and mutiplied at an alarming rate and even came from Eastern Australia, right the way across to Western Australia. We even tried to stop them by erecting a Rabbit Proof Fence.Inface we built two fences, when the first one failed, they built another, which is one of the longest fences in the world. It also failed and we have rabbits everywhere.Australia has perfect climate and soils for rabbits.Sorry for getting off the subject. Best Regards,David. Western Australia.
