Wow, we've travelled through here so many times to a point where it has laid photogenic memoirs just like this in one's mind. Good passings make good trips.
I'm surprised one's to think of putting it on the map...literally globally. Fantastic :)
It's a feeling of "we're nearly there kids" (when we hit this stop)...oh even though we're 40kms to go to Sofala...teehee :)
This pic was taken by me in 2003 from the very top of Guthega. The view is looking south. Mt Kosciusko is the 4th peak from the left. The one that is in back of the others.
Situated 800 kilometres east of Perth near the midpoint of the Eyre Highway, the "diamond in the desert" was once a familiar sight along what used to be the trans-continental flight route during the 1960s and '70s.
Each side of the diamond measures 1.8 kilometres. The letters that spell out "READYMIX" are 240 metres high by 180 metres wide, with each stroke estimated to be about 12 metres wide.
The logo also appeared in the Guinness Book of Records between 1972 and 1991, first as the world's largest advertising sign and, later, as the world's largest letters.
Seems a bit odd to see the sun setting over the ocean on the east coast of Australia, but it definitely does as you can see in this pic. This is because this point of the beach faces south west!

Hey thanks.... Your house is nice too. Have you seen our new house at Anna Bay where we live now?
