The famous stone shelter on top of Blood Mountain was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1934.

The Blood Mountain Shelter is a two-room stone shelter that is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Picnic rock is also a famous landmark on top of the mountain.

If I remember right, this is Silver Lake Campsite #1. I stayed there one weekend, and the view is phenomenal! This is a great memory to relive!

i once found a cannon ball here, a tennis ball sized lead thing, probably 6-pounds, civil war perhaps?. theres probably more in that brook, only i wonder whether they should be submitted to a museum.
