Lava that surrounded a live tree trunk, then the lava flow subsided, and left the harden lava around a tree trunk -- which burn away leaving the lava structure you see.
Certainly this is Punchbowl, but where did you take the picture from? I've been there many times, but cannot place the angle from where the photo was taken?
Since I didn't jot down the exact L&L of the picture and my version of Google Earth doesn't allow me to zoom-in enough to identify the exact building, I'm sure I'm off some...but due to unAmerican activities; I don't know why the CIA/NSA doesn't shut Google Earth down.
