As a serviceman in Cyprus in the early 60's, I joined the camp Climbing & Potholing Club. It is interesting to see this photo as, having climbed this face, we found an entrance to a pothole at the top of the fissure that can be clearly seen. We returned the next week with potholing gear and entered the pot, descended vertically for some 50/100 ft and then found an inclined scree run (30/40 degree down, running north? and into the mountain.) This was descended for maybe 3/4 to 1 hour, possible 3/4 mile and showed no sign of ending when we decided to reverse and exit. We would have returned with more time and gear but the fighting between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots started and curtailed our activities.
