Wow, that is very cool! How lucky you were to visit such a remote area. But maybe you didn't think so at the time!

The position as given is incorrect.
The actual position is approximately 3500-4000 feet east, along the Kanawha Canal at the Great Ship Lock Park, facing north.

Jim:
Many people refer to Appomattox Court House as the Historical Park. I grew up there, and when I first saw it - I knew it wasn't THE Appomattox Court House!
However, it is the current Court House. This would only be confusing to people in the area, but since you have the cannon showing in the foreground, people would think it was the Historical Park, not the current Court House.

Lovely shot Jim. I just posted a few shots of Sherando from a trip there yesterday and when I mapped it, I saw this image as well. As I said, this is lovely. I love the muted colors and the haze on the mountain. I also noticed that you had a couple shots from Sugar Hollow. These are my stomping grounds so it is always nice to see what folks take pictures of here. I took a quick look at your gallery and it looks like you have some great shots. I will be back to look more closely. I am curious are you from this area? there are some other Panoramians in this area as well. Glad I came across your gallery. It is beautiful. Greetings from Albemarle County! Bruce
