Thank you very much, Tom. Everyone was home and we had a wonderful Christmas, although my daughter had to fly to St. Louis on Sunday and that was a horror show, as you can imagine. Well Steve the D3000 would be the least expensive NEW dslr. A used D40 would be cheaper with less megapixels(same sensor as was used in the image above). It really depends upon your budget. If you can afford a few more pounds then I'd go with a new D90 that would add video as well. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
