Der Wartturm (1498 erbaut) war bestandteil einer Signalkette des Markgrafen Friedrich. Dieses Alarmnetz wurde wegen den Hussiteneinfällen und anderen kriegerischen Gefechten entwickelt. Die Hofer Bürger wurden von hier mit Fahnen- und Feuerzeichen vor einfallenden Heeren gewarnt.
