jim28518's conversations

getting ready for 2015 fall observing!

I'm disappointed with the photo...I was dodging traffic and working with poor lighting. I will replace this one with a better image.

Thanks Jim! If you have driven by you know that this small gem has a lost "little house" character. Lovely details. In the early 1960's my family owned one of the 6 story apartment buildings to the rear on Wellington, a century ago fine residences in a prospering neighborhood.

Sounds fine to me!

Back in 1961 during school summer vacation, I camped for a week alone and lived off the land near that location. Camping about 1/2 mile away, on a ridge above the Ware River (branch). The washed out bridge area was an easy place to fish, and it also was a nice place to bring a highschool date.

Beautiful picture L+F

A bit more trivia: - Merrill Hall (Becker College), 6 Oak Street Worcester, MA - Home seems to date to M.B. Green in 1870's. - Home seems to date to M.E. Inman in circa 1911. - In 1950's & 60's it was across from 7 Oak street, home to the United Way (aka: Community Chest, United Fund, Red Feather Agency). I passed it daily on way to Classical High.

Thank you for giving all the history.

The picture was taken on Newton Hill, in the forest, during the fall, with a hand held very long exposure. Look up Eddie Soloway for more information on the technique.

When built Romanesque Revival-style brick structure, Worcester Society of Antiquity 39 Salisbury Street, formally opened on June 28, 1892. 1919 name changed to Worcester Historical Society. 1978 name changed to Worcester Historical Museum. In February 1988 the organization moved to larger quarters at 30 Elm Street.
