I remember this church. My family was American Navy and we were stationed in Gaeta aboard the USS Little Rock back in the middle 70s. We lived in Spigno Vecchio - we rented a house there for three years. I love this village, the mountains and the valley, and the people. My Italian language skills are horrible, but my neighbors were great and never seemed to minded that I strangled their language. I was sorry to leave. I'm a writer and lately I've been writing a mystery set in these mountains, not in Spigno, of course, the things I'm writing about never happened, but my setting is based very losely on Spigno. I've been searching madly for sites that show pictures of Spigno Vecchio and the few I've found have made me homesick for the mountains and the village. Anyone out there who knows of any photo sites with Spigno or the surrounding area, I'd appreciate it if you give me a shout.
