According to "The Hudson" by Benson J. Lossing (1866) (paraphrasing): Mr Henderson of the Andirondack Iron Company was getting out of a boat with his son (and attendants) and laid his pistol on the rock. The gun accidentally discharged and shot him; he lived 1/2 hour. They took his body back home to his family in Jersey City, who erected the monument (of light NJ sandstone) a few years later.

Sure, just look in my "Irak" folder for one called "STA_0393 - Brigade Rearview" and nearby ones will show up on the map.
Balad is as safe as it gets- the local bad guys are worthless as mortarmen. Comfortable too, movies, club sports, internet access, and even Geocaching!
David Nesnadny's conversations
It's actually just Silver Lake, but Silver Fork is just down the canyon. No lake for them.

The sunshade? Nice- we'd always hang out there. Got back in Fall 07, hope we made a difference. PS- you should see what the ERHS did to the inside!
