This tree is known as "Annie's Oak", it is the only tree in the middle of a Berkeley street. It is named in honor of Annie Maybeck (1867-1956), wife of distinguished Berkeley architect Bernard Maybeck (1864-1954). Annie, a member of the Hillside Club, was active in protecting the trees of Berkeley.
