My father, William Slawe, (now deceased) when he worked at the Budd Company in Philadelphia, helped to build this first ever stainless steel amphibian airplane. They built two of them. One flew and the other was placed here, in front of the Franklin Institute

Nicene Marks is in Aptos California, South East of Santa Cruz, at the Northen most tip of Montery Bay. The wet marine layers are sucked in by the hot valleys to the east and form a wet lush canyon. The hiking and biking are stupendous.

Both staircases end on the roof of a side building and if you look closely you can see a small ladder on the right. I guess if your in a hurry you can jump or use a rope if you had one.

This shot was taken form the 8th floor of the Embassy Suites at 1776 Ben Fanklin Parkway. The wife and kids were in town for Faeriecon, what fun.

Nicene Marks Park, in Aptos CA, is great for hikers, biking, and the drive in lunch crowd who want a perfect forest to play in. The road is blocked about half way in and limited to hikers and bicycles only. Perfect for everyone.

The water is a good ten feet deep and I jumped off from the rock on the right over 35 years ago and I did it again today. What fun!
