I was in the BSAP and stationed in Gatooma from 1968 - 1973. The photo is definitely the Magistrates Court & also Police District Headquarters, and other government departments. One year just before Xmas there was a very strong storm and a large fir tree in front of the building was blown over, as we were short of a Xmas Tree at the police pub, 'Run Em' Inn' I took a few 'bandits' (prisoners) around there with the 5 tonner, cut it half took it back to the police station and stood it up outside the pub, it must have been about 30 feet high.
What a great hotel, I remember staying there in 1967(AD), and my Dad commenting on the sign about all rooms facing the sea, as kids we thought we were in for a real treat, seeing that the biggest body of open water that we'd ever clapped eyes on was the Gwelo River.
May God bless the Zimbabwean people. May 2009
be a better year for you. Praying for a solution
to the mess your country finds itself in.
Merry Christmas from Omaha, Nebraska

Centre Jean XXII in Mvolyé
MVOLYE. Church built in 1908 by Germsn missionaries.
The whole centre is called Mvolyé. I went there on a weekly basis in the 1960s since I was a boy-scout.
