The Solitude Allee runs in a straight line from the Residence Palace in Ludwigburg to the Solitude Manor. It has a length of about 13 km and was built under the reign of Duke Karl Eugen von Wuerttemberg in the years 1764-1768. In 1820 it was used as a Base-line for the survey of the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg. Most of the Allee is preserved. Only at a few places the modern traffic demanded a slight correction of its run as you can see on the map.

The only things, I think, that had changed, were the fence around the site and the ashphalted road that passes by.

There are 3 possibilities to visit the nature reserve Marais du Vigueirat 1. There is a free trail close to the visitor center. 2. You can join a walking group for a 2 to 5 hour walk (depending on date) in the center of the reserve at 7€. The picture was taken on such a walk. 3. The most comfortable way is to take a horse carriage at 14€. For more information: (http://www.marais-vigueirat.reserves-naturelles.org/pages/page3.htm)

L'Étang du Fangassier is the best place to see flamingos in flight. In dry times you can go there by car. The cars in the background are on the last possible parking lot. If you want to go further you'll have to walk or take your bicyle.
