The Solitude Allee runs in a straight line from the Residence Palace in Ludwigburg to the Solitude Manor. It has a length of about 13 km and was built under the reign of Duke Karl Eugen von Wuerttemberg in the years 1764-1768. In 1820 it was used as a Base-line for the survey of the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg. Most of the Allee is preserved. Only at a few places the modern traffic demanded a slight correction of its run as you can see on the map.
