We found this mother one afternoon replete with a part-eaten impala carcase nearby. Her cub was close by. Next morning she and the cub were in the tree but she had left the carcase on the ground. They were still there that evening. The following morning we found a lioness eating the carcase and no sign of the leopards. Later another guide found the cub dead, killed by the lioness by bites to the throat. We saw it ourselves later and after a hunt found the mother still alive but now childless.
