Built on part of the old commercial Town Wharf, the Mary River Marina is well worth a visit by cruising yachtsmen. Once through the river mouth area, there is ample water all the way upstream to the Town Reach where progress is then blocked to masted vessels by the Glanville road traffic bridge. Maryborough is nowadays a relaxed city with excellent facilities.
The Port of Maryborough was once a bustling commercial river port with its own Customs House, fishing fleet and shipyards. Many immigrant ships came direct from England to Maryborough during the 19th century, and it exported primary produce and heavy engineering products until well into the 20th century.

This walking track starts here at the site of the old Paradise School and goes past a number of old abandoned gold mines.
