Cette statue bizarre d'un homme apparemment prêt à étrangler une jeune femme représente en fait un célèbre hypnotiseur portugais,l'Abbé José Custodio de Faria (1746-1819) connu en tant que personnage du roman d'Alexandre Dumas, Le Comte de Monte Cristo. Il a fortement marqué de son empreinte à travers les siècles la pratique du magnitisme animal et de l'hypnose.
La plaque mentionne seulement les donateurs:
